Every journey begins with a single story...

Bradley’s adventures are based on traditional folk tales from around the world, tales recorded by his Grandfather in his travel journal. In The Dreaming Tree from Brazil, a wide awake Bradley learns from the jungle animals tricks for dropping off to sleep, in Happy Face from North America he discovers how to use materials from nature to make a self portrait for his Grandmother, in The Rainbow Serpent from Australia, Bradley finds out how to make a seed grow while in The Highland Water Horse from Scotland, he becomes one of the very few people ever to have seen a Water Kelpie. Bradley and the viewer are brought, in a gently informative and highly entertaining way, into contact with fascinating people and stories from far away places they may otherwise never see.

The episodes feature Bradley and, briefly, his parents as well a new character who acts as a guide in each adventure. Bradley’s Grandfather is seen only in the framed photographs displayed in the family’s home and the faded, black and white snapshots pasted into the journal. But the old man’s warm personality and distinctive white beard, toothy grin and sparkling blue eyes, are to be spotted in each of the guides, all of whom share his familiar, kindly voice.

Featuring the instantly recognisably voice of renowned English actor Brian Blessed, himself an intrepid explorer, Bradley has a quality look and feel. Appropriate indigenous art styles such as Aboriginal sand art and Native American wood carvings, along with carefully researched sound effects, music and bird song, help create a multi-textured impression of an environment far removed from Bradley’s own but one with which he and the viewer can engage and have fun.
