Bradley – a boy, a book and a big, big world
When it comes to learning about the big wide world, children’s minds are open books, just waiting to be filled with stories, adventures and dreams.
Bradley, a CGI animated series for 2-5 year olds, is inspirational story telling at it very best: twenty six gently captivating tales designed to entertain while raising awareness of a world full of wonders beyond the garden hedge. After all, travel, even if it only happens inside a little boy’s imagination, broadens the mind.
Each 7 minute adventure begins and ends in Bradley’s home but takes us across the world to exotic locations such as Australia, India, Antarctica, South America and Africa. The journeys always begin in the same way: a magical spiral staircase, formed from the books in his bedroom, leads Bradley to his Grandfather’s travel journal which is kept in a battered old suitcase in the attic. The journal transforms itself into a spinning globe surrounded by sparkling stars. It then splits to reveal an enchanting pop up landscape from which a friendly character emerges to guide Bradley through the story and the adventure can begin...
Bradley is very much a contemporary production which harnesses the warmth and fascination of traditional storytelling to raise cultural awareness among its young audience. The simple device of the magic pop up journal, enables viewers to embark on a series of voyages of discovery around the world. Every day events such as bathtime, going to bed and playing in garden give rise to a thoughtful question in Bradley's mind which is answered, with the aid of the journal, in the course of an exciting adventure.
